Introduction

For centuries, the female body has been sculpted and painted through the male gaze, idealized, sexualized, and molded into passive, ornamental creatures designed to be consumed by men. This show offers a new perspective: one shaped by the female gaze. The six works in this exhibition were created by women artists depicting other women. These portraits range from powerful to vulnerable, glamorous to raw, modest to defiant. Some reject beauty standards. Others embrace joy or explore identity. None are here to please or perform. Together, these works show how women artists reclaim their power. This is art made by women, for women. Not for your gaze.
